元CBSテレビの前副社長兼広告・デザイン担当クリエイティブ・ディレクターのルウ・ドーフスマンが2008年10月28日に亡くなった。享年90歳。45年間CBS一筋で数々の功績を残したが、テレビ局のカフェテリアの壁に1450以上の文字でBANANAやLEMONなど食べ物関係の単語を並べて作られた幅10M以上に及ぶタイポグラフィのマスターピース「Gastrotypographicalassemblage」は圧巻です。

昨年「the Center For Design Study」という非営利団体によりカフェテリアから取り除かれて20年以上眠っていたパーツを復元する作業を開始したが、その矢先にこの世を去った。ご冥福をお祈りいたします。

この投稿を書いている途中で気がついたのだが、Buildのブログでも触れていてそこに出ていたCBSのロゴ（目がモチーフのロゴ）に涙のマークの画像が尋常じゃないセンスで、その発想がなかった自分にがっかりだった。
